Albany State track coach Willie Laster has been named coach of the year in the South region after the leading the Rams to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title.
Laster received the honor at the NCAA Division II track meet in Edwardsville, Illinois.
Albany State's Sterling Gray has qualified for the finals in the men's 400 meter dash. Gray's time of 46.39 was the fastest of any one in the qualifying heats.
Gray was also a member of the Rams 400 meter relay team that has also qualified for the finals.
For the Lady Rams, Alicia Anthony has qualified for the women's 100-meter dash and Anthony will also be running in the finals of the women's 400-meter relay.
