VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –A Valdosta elementary school welcomed back its teachers Hollywood style.

Instead of Oscars or Emmy's, Sallas Mahone Elementary School teachers were awarded Wowies.

They got the awards in categories including School pride and leadership.

The principal says they wanted to wow the teachers and get them pumped up for the next school year.

They even rolled out the red carpet.

"They work very hard and sometimes we don't feel like they get the attention they deserve," said Gary Glover, the Sallas Mahone Elementary principal.

Valdosta City students start back school next Monday.
