ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Lee County's Emergency Response Teams are reaching out to the community during Tuesday Night's National Night Out activities.

Leesburg Police, Lee County Sheriff's deputies, Firefighters and EMS will be in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday night with games and activities for families.

The Sheriff's Office will make Child I.D. kits available for parents and will update kits from last year. Police say it gives the community a chance to talk with police about concerns in a non-emergency situation.

"The only time we get to interact with the community is if they need us, they're having a problem, they need us to help them out with it. In this situation here, they can just come out and talk to us as normal people," said Sgt. James Vick, Leesburg Police.

The group plans to serve hot dogs and they'll have plenty of suggestions for neighbors about what they can do to make their streets safe.
