ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  The Darton College community is mourning the loss of one of their students. Friday College staffers extended their sympathy to the family of Brandon Schiff.

Earlier this week, students and faculty circulated fliers looking for Schiff. His body was discovered Thursday in a pecan orchard in the 1900 block of West Oakridge Drive. An autopsy was being done Friday, but police believe he committed suicide. The college is providing grief counselors for students.

"Over this week I think the biggest thing that we saw and we learned for all of this is that there are so many people who are willing to help, and it's not, we're not out to get people in trouble, we're not going to run and turn you into the police, there's help that is available," said Krista Robitz, Darton College Director of Communications.

A letter was sent to the entire student body with crisis counseling numbers. Darton College Police are still investigating Schiff's case.
