ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Albany Police responded to three violent crimes in less than an hour Thursday night.

About 10:15 p.m., a man was shot in an alley behind 816 West Mercer Avenue.  He told police he heard gunshots and was struck twice as he ran away.  He was rushed to the hospital.  Police tell us they took on person into custody. They have not released the names of the victim nor the suspect.

About 10:30, officers rushed to KFC at 2727 Dawson Road after an armed robbery.  They searched the area for robbers, though we don't know how many people robbed the restaurant.  An ambulance responded to the scene, but by midnight, there was no word about whether anyone was hurt.

About 11:10, there was another shooting, this one in south Albany. 15-year old Yasmine Walker was walking on Alice Avenue when she heard gunshots.  She began to run, and when she reached the intersection with South Jefferson Street, she realized she had been shot in the hand.

Police don't know if the crimes are connected.  They continue to investigate.
