ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Albany State University welcomed new members to its police force Tuesday.  Five officers and four security guards took their oaths of office.

They'll work to protect students and faculty at both the university and Albany Technical College.  After taking their oaths, the new badges were pinned on the officers.  Sgt. Andrael Jones said, "It's just something very special.  It's a good day for everyone, not just including myself, but everybody I'm part of the team with.  It's a good day for all of us."

Lt. Daniel Diamond said, "I enjoy it.  There's good people here, good folks.  My co-workers, the officers, they're good, hardworking individuals."

Family and friends of the officers and security guards were on hand to witness the swearing in ceremony and to help them pin on the new badges.
