Barnes campaigns in Enigma

ENIGMA, GA (WALB) – Georgia's Democratic candidate for governor isn't taking any time off before the general election.

Former governor Roy Barnes is seeking to be elected once again to the state's highest political position.

He's criss crossing the state traveling to seven south and central Georgia cities. Saturday he was at a campaign rally in Enigma in Berrien County.

Barnes won the Democratic nomination this week with 66 percent of the vote. He will face the winner of a Republican run-off.

Barnes says he was ready to get back on the campaign trail and will focus his energy on education and unemployment.

"With the team we've had over the past four years there has been furloughs, shortened school years, laying off of teachers, and the loss of jobs. It's time to return to some sanity and some middle ground so we can get Georgia back to work again," said Roy Barnes, (D) Gubernatorial Candidate.

About 300 people showed up to the rally including Darryl Hicks who's running for state labor commissioner and Keith Moffett a candidate for the Georgia public Service Commission.
