Savage thankful for a third chance

By Robert Hydrick - bio | email

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WALB) - The future was bright for Albany's Aairon Savage after his freshman season with the Auburn football four years ago.

Savage's career though seemed over after he has missed two straight seasons with two major injuries.

Aairon Savage though is back for one last season with the Tigers.

The NCAA granted Savage's request for a sixth season.

The former Westover High Patriot missed the 2008 season with a knee injury and last year Savage tore his Achilles tendon during a summer workout.

A big reason Aairon is getting a sixth year is he has earned his undergraduate degree and graduate degree.

Aairon knows he is going to have to earn his playing time when the Tigers open fall camp in two weeks.

He also understands how lucky he is to get what he calls a third chance to comeback.

Aairon S

avage said. "You always here people saying go as hard as you can. You never know when your last play is going to be. This play is going to be your last play. Just to have the opportunity to come back and do it twice. A lot of people don't have the opportunity to do it one time. I've got the chance to do it twice and we are going to have fun with it."

Auburn will open the 2010 season at home at 7:00 p.m. September 4th against Arkansas State.
