After knocking off one Atlanta powerhouse in the state quarterfinals, the Westover soccer team is preparing to face a second in the semifinals Tuesday.
The Patriots will host Lovett in a match that features two teams who both lost in last year's AAA semifinals.
Westover coach Vonnie McClung is expecting a match very similiar to the one his team had with Westminster last Friday.
Although it is doubtful Westover's semifinal contest can match the drama of last week's penalty kick shootout that the Patriots won 6-5.
Still, that exciting contest was witnessed by a number of Westover students and teachers who had never seen a soccer match before.
Now soccer is all just about everyone at the school is talking about and even though school is out for the summer, the Patriots should have an even bigger crowd ready to cheer them on to what would be Westover's first ever state final appearance.
Coach Vonnie McClung said "And now other people are seeing the work that they have put in and it is more or less gratitude for them. They are appreciative of everybody that comes out and really when we get that kind of turnout it really picks their level of play up."
Westover's AAA semifinal match starts at 6:30pm against Lovett on Tuesday.
Number one ranked Cartersville plays second ranked Gainesville in the other semifinal.
If the Patriots win beat Lovett, Westover will host the finals on Friday.
