ALBANY, GA (WALB) -Sherwood Baptist Church's new recreation facility is now open to the public.

Legacy Park, off Old Pretoria road is equipped with baseball, softball, and soccer fields,  tennis and volleyball courts, a walking trail and horse stables.  Acres of land, a volleyball court, and a stocked pond sit near the entrance.

Eight USTA certified blue courts have already been used for tournaments. Three new soccer field are finished.

Sherwood leagues as well as outside leagues can play as long as they respect Sherwood's rules. The newest addition has two softball and two baseball fields outfitted with lights.

"Every field has it's own bullpen and dugout," said Flynt.

A 1.5 mile trail surrounds the area. It's a short ride to the football field - the future11,000 square foot field house.

We finally wind up at the pavilion which is used for worship and awards.

"It's an exciting building with multi uses," said Flynt. "Reaching the next generation is very key and I think sports and recreation is vital in today's society."

Sherwood is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. It's open 8:00 a.m. to noon on Wednesday and closed Sunday and Monday.
