DAWSON, GA (WALB) - Terrell County honoring their national champion 4-H archery team.
The three member team was treated to an ice cream social Monday afternoon. The state champion Terrell County team won the National Championship in Compound Archery three weeks ago in Texas. The Terrell County team won gold medals in two of the three nights of competition and won the overall title. The national title has made everyone in Terrell County proud of their five year old archery program.
Jake Cliett said. "That last day we ended up fourth and it kind scared us a little bit. We didn't know if it was going to happen. We pulled it out and it was really good feeling."
Brandon Ellerbee said. "Everybody was proud of us that we had represented our state well in Texas.
Royce Palmer said. "I have been shooting for the past three years. We shoot real good and we have been through a lot of practice. Working on it real hard."
The Terrell County team cannot defend their compound title next year due to 4-H rules.
The team says they are planning to enter the tougher recurv division next year.
