Lee grand jury indicts several on manslaughter charges

ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  A Lee County man was indicted on murder charges Monday in the death of a two year old child.

Thomas Darling is charged with hitting a little girl so hard, her liver was lacerated. He remains in jail.

Also indicted Monday was Attorney Craig Mathis was indicted on prescription drug charges today. Mathis is charged with possession with intent to distribute narcotics.

He was arrested March 19th and charged with illegal possession of Xanax and Adderall. Mathis has a law practice in Leesburg and is a former Congressional candidate.

He is out of jail on bond but in a rehab facility.

The Lee County grand jury also indicted Nakasha Holmes on charges of reckless conduct and involuntary manslaughter. 

Holmes told investigators she was sleeping with five month old K'Laysha Holmes and awoke to find her unresponsive.
