We caught up with District 2 candidate Sherrell Byrd who was holding a fish fry in South Albany- an area she would represent.
Among several goals, Bird plans to address early literacy in reading comprehension and technology in classrooms. She also wants to find ways to cut teacher furloughs.
"I really want to be a voice for this generation and I want to address the needs of the parents, the kids, and the teachers," said Byrd.
Byrd is running against incumbent Milton Griffin.
Winner of Tuesdays election will take on Republican, Candidate Donnie Smith.
