ALBANY, GA (WALB) –Two Albany restaurants were closed most of the day after recent crimes.

Police investigated the theft of the safe from Long John Silver on North Slappey and an overnight burglary at Floyd's Chicken and Rib Hut a few blocks south on Slappey Boulevard.

Someone pushed the Hut's air conditioner out of the window.  That broke water pipes when it fell.

The crook stole the cash register and T-V.

The water ruined walls and the floor, and the restaurant can't reopen until repairs are made.

Owner Floyd Berry said this is the second time the business has been broken into this month, and he is considering closing.
