VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –A former congressman and republican gubernatorial candidate says he has a plan that will help Georgia's economy.

Nathan Deal swung through Valdosta Thursday making his last stops before the primary on Tuesday. He says his economic plan 'Real Prosperity' will create jobs, bring growth and lower the tax burden.

He says in difficult times, a strong leader is needed and that he hopes voters will see that he's qualified to do the job.

"I'm the only candidate in this race whose actually put proposals together and actually submitted those to an inside group and said what do you think these proposals could do in terms of our competitiveness in Georgia," said Deal.

Recent polls show State Insurance commissioner John Oxendine is in the lead for republican candidates, followed by former Secretary State Karen Handel. Deal is third and Senator Eric Johnson is behind him.
