WAYCROSS, GA (WALB) - The Albany State Rams are bringing back an old rival to the schedule this season.

The Rams will play Savannah State in the Rumble in the Swamp Classic in Waycross on September 25th.

Representatives from both schools were in Waycross to get a tour of Memorial Stadium on Wednesday.

The home of the Ware County Gators will be the site for this game which is sponsored by the 100 Black Men of Valdosta and Southeast Georgia.

This series was known as the Music City Classic when it was played for seven years in Macon.

The series discontinued on six years ago and former Albany State player and longtime assistant coach Rickey Alexander says it is time to renew this rivalry.

Rickey Alexander said.

"Whenever Savannah State and Albany State get together for a football game, it is always an exciting football game. It is a hard, physical football game. We are looking forward to playing Savannah State."

Savannah State head coach Julius Dixon said. "The alumni are really excited about renewing this rivalry. We are excited too at Savannah State. It gives us an opportunity to be visual in this area."

The Rumble in the Swamp between Albany State and Savannah State will kick at 2:00 p.m. on September 25th in Waycross.
