ALBANY, GA (WALB) –   United Way President Dwayne Myles presented a check from the MillerCoors Foundation to Dougherty County Family Literacy Connection Executive Director Sandy Bamford.

Since 2002 the non profit agency educated both adults and children, to help them toward self sufficiency.

"So this means we will be able to continue to provide those services to families and to help them break the cycle of illiteracy and poverty in those families," said Sandy Bamford of the Dougherty County Family Literacy Connection.

The Literacy Connection serves more than 60 families a year, teaching them to read and write and help them obtain their GED.
