ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Some church and civic leaders are working together to stop the violence.

Members of several churches came together Friday for a worship concert that's part of an ongoing series of events to make Albany safer.

"This movement was born out of violence," Rev. Garrett Andrew, First Presbyterian Albany.

Spreading the word through this spiritual community they are trying to Stop The Violence.

"There's no where in the world that violence is going to be stopped unless the city can come together, until the people who call themselves Christians can come together," said said Pastor Jason Spears, Providence Church.

Both Pastor Spears and Rev. Andrews brought their congregations to the Gethsemane Worship Center.

"Turn on the news you hear someone getting stabbed, shot, killed, but it reminds us that we're set in this city and this time to do something positive," said Spears.

Many are not only hoping but praying their efforts pay off and help stop the violence.
