Golf fund raisers in Albany

May 14, 2003

Albany--Springtime means golf for many South Georgians. There will be two golf tournaments held in Albany during the next week to raise money for the community.

The Second Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Golf Tournament will tee off Friday at the Flint River Golf Course. Many Cops will be playing, but the public is invited to join in too. The money raised will go to support the Community Oriented Policing Program.

Lt. Kenn Singleton of the Albany Police Department said "We have a lot of mentoring programs like our DEFY program. We have our law enforcement explorer program, which we have a lot of different functions. We have our annual Day with a Cop festivities at Chehaw Park. So this money will be put back into the community through education and community projects."

The Law Enforcement Memorial Golf Tournament is a four person scramble, and costs 50 dollars a person. It tees off at 8:30 Friday at Flint River Golf Course. To register call Lt. Singleton at the Albany Police Department.

Monday the Albany Area Adult Chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes is hosting their inaugural Golf tournament. It will be played at the River Pointe Golf Course, teeing off at 1 o-clock Monday afternoon. It cost 125 dollars per person.

The money goes to send Albany youngsters to Fellow of Christian Athletes summer camps. Register at River Pointe or by calling Chris Glover at the Albany AFLAC Insurance office at 438-9405.
