VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –A teenager is in jail Thursday on murder charges after a deadly shooting in Valdosta.

That teen's father is also charged in the case.

Police say the victim was trying to get away from a fight at a nightclub early Thursday morning when he was gunned down.

Shortly before 1:30 Thursday morning on the corner of Patterson and Martin Luther King Drive, an argument started inside The House bar and the three men took it outside. Police say 27-year old Xzayvia Calloway tried to get away from a Valdosta teen and his father when he was gunned down.

"He had traveled just south of the bar area into a lot," said Valdosta Police Capt. Bobbi McGraw. "He was shot. that's where died."

Calloway was shot in the torso. The two men left the scene.

Police put out a search for the crown victoria witnesses say the men left in. Shortly after the shooting, a Lowndes County deputy spotted the car near the intersection of Jones and Magnolia Street.

17-year old Cleveland Fulton Jr. is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime.

His father 40-year old Cleveland Fulton Sr. is charged with aggravated assault and tampering with evidence.

Valdosta resident Jessie McKinney says crime in this part of town is getting out of hand.

"It always winds up over here on Martin Luther King," said McKinney. "It's just sad that a good leader like him, everything bad happens on this street."

Police say the three knew each other.

"You can't give life back," said McKinney.

The gun was recovered close to the intersection where the two men were arrested.

Valdosta police say more arrests could be made in this case.
