ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Criminals have ransacked vehicles in several neighborhoods the past couple of weeks. Colquitt County Investigators say they've had a rash of entering auto reports, as many as three or four a day.
They say the thieves are targeting both unlocked and locked cars. In some cases they've smashed windows to get what's inside.
That's why investigators say you should not leave any valuables in your car.
"The main thing is take everything of value out of your vehicle, take it in the house with you don't leave guns, firearms, money, you know, GPS units in there," said Colquitt County Sheriff's Captain Hal Suber.
Investigators say thieves have taken everything from guns and purses to loose change and a bag of clothes.
They plan to send out fliers in neighborhoods targeted by the crooks to warn residents. They also want neighbors to keep an eye out for suspicious activity and to report it.
