ALBANY, GA (WALB) -A lack of confidence won't be an issue for the Albany Panthers this postseason.
The Panthers are the top seed in the Southern Indoor Football League Playoffs and host a first round matchup with Louisiana on Saturday.
The winner of Saturday's game will advance to the League's championship game. If the Panther's advance the championship game will be played in Albany.
The Panthers are unbeaten at home and head coach Lucious Davis doesn't expect that to change this weekend.
"The most important thing is beat the teams you're supposed to beat and I honestly feel like this is a team we're supposed to beat so if we just go out and do what we're supposed to do then we'll be celebrating after Saturday night" said Davis.
The Panthers split with Louisiana in two regular season games with the home team winning each time.
Panthers starting quarterback Cecil Lester was out with injury for both of those games.
He's never played against Louisiana but he's watched from them play the Panthers twice from the sidelines.
Lester is hoping that will pay dividends on Saturday.
"I know that they're a good team. They have a lot of veteran guys from when they won the championship in this league and the things I noticed that I can exploit is to make sure I get my guys the ball and get it out quickly and let them do what they can do" said Lester.
"I think it will be a big advantage for us. They haven't seen him but also on the flip side he hasn't seen their defense either. He's watched film and I'm pretty sure they've watched film of Cecil but it's totally different when you watch film and you're actually out there performing" said Davis.
Albany and Louisiana kick off at 7:30 Saturday at the Albany Civic Center.
