ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Mitchell County Sheriff's Investigators exhumed the body of a dog Wednesday as they investigated its death.

They also charged a parolee with shooting the dog. Investigators charged William Jackson, Junior with cruelty to animals and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. They say he had been drinking when he got into an argument with family members June 26th.

Investigators say he pulled out a gun and shot the dog and later buried it on property on Pine Cone Road. Jackson is in the Mitchell County Jail and is expected to appear before a judge Thursday.
