Baconton - Tornadoes can be deadly and devastating., but if you're in their path they can't be avoided. However; when it does happen, sometimes business picks up.

The multiple tornadoes in the Midwest has helped a south Georgia company. Balfour Pole Company in Baconton peels, dries and sells poles to treaters, in turn, they sell poles to telephone companies.

Balfour managers say this is the first time a tornado has actually generated business. Tornadoes usually stay on a specific path, but the Midwest has had numerous tornadoes.

Balfour usually sees an increase in sales from hurricanes and ice storms because a larger area is usually damaged.
