ALBANY, GA (WALB) -Gas prices this Fourth of July were a little higher than last year, but  that didn't keep drivers off the roads.

Last July Fourth, a gallon of regular unleaded gas averaged $2.44 in Albany. This year it averages $2.56

We saw gas prices at $2.53 at Enmark on North Slappey and $2.51 at Flash Foods on the corner of North Westover boulevard and Gillionville road.

Albany's gas is still cheaper than Columbus, Savannah, Atlanta, and Athens. One man says it's good for him because he uses a large amount of gas to operate his lawn care business.

"I'm glad to see it around $2.50 with what's going on with the oil spill. I'm real surprised it hadn't started going back up too much but I'm glad," said Scott Lybarger.

Georgia ranks 11th with the cheapest gas in the nation.
