ALBANY, GA (WALB) - If you think American Idol is a riot, then you need to check out Albany Star.

More than 20 contestants showed off their talent downtown this afternoon at Veterans Amphitheater. Ages eight and up have the opportunity to perform. Saturday is the second Albany Star Event.

We spoke to one contestant who sang an Alicia Keys song.

"It was really nerve wracking. I could hardly get some of my words out because I was nervous being around a lot of people but I think I did pretty good," said contestant Kimberly Harrell.

The next event will be Saturday August 21 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Two contestants from each age group at each event will advance to the finals in September.

Registration forms are available at: Albany Recreation and Parks building, 1301 N. Monroe St, Albany, GA.
