ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Three raids are being conducted simultaneously this morning in Dougherty and Lee County.
District Attorney Greg Edwards and Sheriff Kevin Sproul are confiscating records at the Stop and Shop at 2201 South Liberty Expressway, in what is called a money laundering investigation.
The raids are part of a RICO statute investigation, which grew out of a gambling machine raid months ago.
D. A. Edwards said, "Money is being laundered out of state. Is it funding terrorism? We don't know, but we know that the money is going out of here."
WALB will have more on this story as soon as possible.
