ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Some might call Alexander Johnson's signing with the Houston Rockets a second chance in the NBA.

Johnson would likely prefer to call it his first chance to show the league what he can do when healthy.

Alexander Johnson leaves Monday for Las Vegas to play for the Houston Rockets summer league team.

The Rockets signed the former Dougherty High star in April after he dominated the NBA's Developmental League.

Johnson chose to play in the developmental league after having shoulder surgery a year and a half ago.

With his shoulder feeling fine, the former Florida State Seminole is having fun playing basketball again.

Alexander Johnson said. "You can go out and do what you are capable of doing. It is just excited to be back playing and healthy. Playing the game of basketball again. It just feels good."

Alexander Johnson was drafted by Indiana in the 2nd round of the 2007 NBA Draft.

He was traded on draft night to Memphis and played one season for the Grizzlies and one more the Miami Heat in 2008.

Johnson was with the Utah Jazz in training camp last fall but released at the start of the regular season.
