Lowndes County - A Lee County man is in jail after stealing a car in Peach County and crashing it in Lowndes.

Forty-two year old Tracy J. Allen stole a Jeep Cherokee in Byron Saturday night. Witnesses say he was driving recklessly down I-75 and got off on Exit 29 near Hahira. He lost control of the jeep and flipped it on Morven Road.

Allen received minor injuries and was treated and released from South Georgia Medical Center.

He's being held in the Lowndes County jail charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle in Peach County, probation violations in Lee and Dougherty counties, and multiple traffic charges in Lowndes.
