ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  A lawyer in the Albany city attorney's office lost her job.

City Manager AL Lott upheld the firing of Assistant City Attorney Kathy Strang.

In May, City Attorney Nathan Davis, recommended Strang be terminated for misconduct, negligence, inefficiency and inability to perform her duties.

She appealed and had a hearing before Al Lott last week. In a letter dated yesterday, Lott upheld Davis' termination recommendation.

He cited her use of racial slurs, and shortcomings as an attorney as two of the reasons for her dismissal.

"A personnel matter and other things might transpire, we don't really want to talk about it at this time," said Assistant City Mgr. Wes Smith.

Strang was put on administrative leave in May. Her termination is effective immediately.
