Protestors don't like change in Georgia flag

May 10, 2003

Albany- While at Industrial Park Dedication, Governor Perdue was met by protectors. Perdue says he stands by his support of Georgia's new flag, even though he had campaigned for a referendum on the flag showing the Confederate battle emblem.

Signs that once read "Boot Barnes" for supporting the flag change now say "Boot Perdue."

Governor Perdue says, "These protestors have a constitutional right to protest. That's what is beautiful about this great country."

The Protesters would not talk to the media Saturday. Governor Perdue said he would have liked to have given Georgians more options on which flag to choose.
