Ocilla, GA (WALB) – A homicide investigation in underway in Ocilla where a 36-year-old man was found dead inside his home Monday morning.

Officers discovered Jerrick Fuller's body after family members couldn't get in touch with him.

"Ocilla Police department got a welfare check around 8:36 this morning. They responded and found the victim inside the house," said GBI Agent Craig Rotter.

It was in the living room where officers found Fuller's body. GBI agents spent the day gathering evidence from the home which is located just a few blocks from the police station in the 500 block of Irwin Avenue.

Agents won't say if it looked like foul play was involved or how they think Fuller died.

"We're still trying to determine the manner of death which the autopsy is going to contribute to," said Rotter. He added, "We go through all the steps as if it were a homicide until we can prove it otherwise.

Police say Fuller lived alone in the house and the last time anyone heard from him was over the weekend. Agents canvassed the neighborhood Monday but right now, no suspects have been named.

"We don't have any persons of interest in this case. We've interviewed family members and neighbors. We're running out as our normal investigation would take us," said Rotter.

With the home located on one of Ocilla's most traveled streets, investigators are asking anyone who may saw something suspicious this weekend at Fuller's home to come forward.

Agents say they aren't sure how long Fuller had been dead. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted sometime Tuesday.

If you have any information you're asked to call Ocilla Police at 229-468-7494 or the GBI Office in Perry at 478-987-4545
