New teachers looking for work

May 9, 2003

Americus-- New college graduates say they are not worried about finding a job in today's unstable economy.

Two-hundred-twenty students at Georgia Southwestern University accepted their diploma Friday. Lisa Wagenknecht has applied to be an English teacher in five different counties. She hasn't heard back from any yet--but she says she isn't worried.

Lisa Wagenknecht says, "Not really, you always need teachers, hopefully someone will pick me up and I can teach some high school students something in English."

Several graduates with degrees in education say they have found jobs, and believe the market for them is strong.
