ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A Brooks County man is in jail after leading police on a three county high speed chase last night, all this while his pregnant girlfriend and mother were passengers in his speeding van.

A Ford Windstar crashed after the driver lost control on Highway 84 near Waycross.

It all started around 8PM Saturday when Lanier County deputies tried to pull over 26-year-old Christopher Antonio Dodd for a tail light violation.

Sheriff Nick Norton said Dodd reached speeds of 110 miles per hour during the 36-mile chase. Dodd, whose girlfriend is nine months pregnant, struck a car in Homerville, and several times cross into the opposite lane of traffic.

Lanier, Clinch, and Ware County deputies along Homerville Police took part in the pursuit as it went through Lakeland, Argyle, Manor, Homerville, and Waycross. Dodd and his passengers did not receive serious injuries.

He's facing several charges including evading police and driving on a suspended license. He's being held in the Cook County jail.
