ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A one-day educational event allowed some students to have fun and compete at the same time.

Albany State University hosted the 2010 Upward Bound South Georgia Olympics.

It's an educational activity that allows participants to showcase their academic skills in science, math, reading, arts and physical education.

It's all in an effort to prepare students for college.

"They take tours and we teach time math, English, science and we really getting the prepared for college," said Toussaint Hill, Asst. Dir. Upward Bound Program.

This year more about 200 students from ABAC, Andrew College, and ASU's Upward Bound participated.

Winners in various competitions received trophies.
