DAWSON, GA (WALB) -  It has taken just five years for the Terrell County 4-H Archery team to become the best in the state.

Now they are ready to compete with the best in the nation

The senior team leaves this weekend for the National Shooting Sports Competition in Kerrville Texas this weekend.

The Terrell County team Jake Cliett, Brandon Ellerbee and Royce Palmer finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th individually at the state competition.

Terrell County is not only home to the top senior team but also the junior champion in Steven Harden and Cloverleaf champ Jessica Cliett.

Under Georgia 4-H rules, this team can only compete in nationals for this one time.

Coach Todd Cliett says his archers succeed because of their passion for the sport.

Todd Cliett said. "The guys get into it. They really research their bows. They are really particular about their equipment. They are particular about their arrows. They study videos and the come out and practice. We have been practicing for the senior team 3 to 4 times a week for the last three weeks now.

The National Shooting Sports Competition will start Wednesday in Texas.
