News release from Chehaw Wild Animal Park

(Albany, Ga.)- Chehaw Wild Animal Park is proud to announce the opening of an interactive play area that provides a fun learning experience for children as an addition to the popular meerkat exhibit.

The Meerkat Maze will open to the public this Saturday, June 26, when the Wild Animal Park opens at 9:30 a.m. This interactive maze allows kids to learn about the behaviors and lifestyles of meerkats by providing play features that encourage them to pretend they are meerkats themselves.

They can climb to the top of an oversized termite mound to look for danger, and then slide down a spiral slide to safety. They can also find their way through the pretend burrow system and encounter what a meerkat may encounter.

Also a digging area is available for guests to practice their digging skills to see if they are up to par.

This addition to the Animal Park was the brainchild of the Park's zoological and education department's staff and was made a reality through the work of artist and sculptor Chris Moore and concrete carver Johan Marais.
