ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A family owned building supply business expands to Albany.

Short and Paulk supply company held it's grand opening celebration in the former Giles building Thursday.  The company renovated the building inside and out.

They provide lumber and building supplies to homeowners and builders.

The business has been owned solely by the Short family for many years, but the name doesn't reflect the change.

Current Operator Jay Short said, "I got my first marketing lesson at about age 10 when I asked my grandfather why he didn't change the name and he said that Short Supply was just not a good name for a lumber yard.  We've been around since 1941.  It's a family owned business, we're coming into our 70th year next year."

Jay Short says his staff stands out from other building supply stores because of the experience of his employees. The 10 who work at the Albany store have an average of 22 years experience.

Short and Paulk has three other locations in Tifton, Sylvester and Cordele.
