60 new jobs in Turner County

May 8, 2003

Sycamore-- Turner County is getting a multi-million dollar probation-detention center.

State Senator Rooney Bowen and former state representative Ray Holland broke ground in Sycamore at the site of the new three million dollar facility.

Ray Holland says efforts to bring the detention center to Turner County started in the late 1980's--and people's persistence is now paying off, "The success is not just the groundbreaking day but the success will be for the citizens of Turner County and this area that have great jobs the Department of Corrections is going to bring here."

It's going to create 60 new jobs in Turner County. The low-security facility will have a yearly operational budget of two-and-a-half-million dollars.
