ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Lee County Commissioners approved a new budget Tuesday night that avoids a tax hike and employee furloughs. It includes more spending for the sheriff's office, though it's only about 20% of the extra $1.5 million Sheriff Reggie Rachals asked for. County employees will get a 3% raise beginning in October. The budget also includes small increases in garbage and landfill fees and pulls $600,000 dollars from reserves.
