ALBANY, GA (WALB) – City officials remain hopeful that there will be professional baseball in Albany this summer.   They hoped to hear from the owner of the team Tuesday about when the Albany Quails will play in Albany.

Albany hasn't had a professional baseball team since the Peanuts folded in 2008.  Paul Eames sports complex goes largely unused right now, other than some high school and American legion games.

Parks and Recreation Director Suzanne Davis said, "We are hopeful and looking positive to having baseball here this summer for at least a few dates with the Albany quails team they're - from what we understand- they're playing a majority of their games in Macon, but we will have games on the schedule here at Paul Eames Stadium."

Some of those games in Macon are already scheduled.   The plan is for the team to play a full schedule in Albany next year.
