AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Kansas City Chiefs tight end Leonard Pope is ready to make South Georgia sweat.
The former Georgia Bulldog is presenting the 5th annual Leonard Pope Kids Day this Saturday at the Sumter County fairgrounds in Americus.
The focus of the day this year is to raise awareness for childhood obesity. Pope will lead kids in a fitness walk, exercises and football drills.
"Basically what we're trying to do is have the kids be very active, run them through drills and what not just to get them rised up and get a sweat" said Pope.
"It just serves as a great spot in my heart and just to see the reaction on the kids faces of what I can do for them it's just really special."
Pope's kids Day will start at 9:00 on Saturday morning with the Fitness Walk beginning at Staley Middle School. Registration for the walk will begin at 8:00.
