VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –Moody Air Force Base children set sail Friday.

The children launched the sailboats they spent the last several days building at Grassy Pond.

More than 20 students built three boats.

They incorporated math, science, language arts, and carpentry lessons into the sailboat program.

This is Katelynn Barnes second year participating.

"You get to work together and team work it like get you new friends and stuff," said  Barnes.

Moody officials say the program gives students an opportunity to be creative and gain a sense of achievement.
