On duty Paramedic commits suicide

Albany - A paramedic shot and killed himself in front for the South Albany EMT Station Tuesday afternoon. John Benford committed suicide just before 5:00pm while on duty at the Newton Road station.

He went to car, pulled out a pistol, and shot himself in the head. His partner called police. Benford was dead when public safety arrived. Benford was in his mid fifties. The Albany Police Department is investigating the incident.
