Trash and sewage prices going up

May 6, 2003

Albany - You might see an increase in your garbage and sewage bills by July.  Albany is raising the cost of trash and sewage pick-up by about 2%.  For the average resident, that means your bills will go up about $0.35 per month.

"In 1999, we increased the cost of pick-up by 28%," said Phil Roberson, Public Works Director. "When promised our customers we wouldn't raise the prices that drastically again. So instead, we our increasing the prices just a little each year based on the CPI Index."

If approved by the city commission, the price increase will start July 1st.
