ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A crowd of job hunters applied for work at the new Publix Grocery Store in Lee County Wednesday.

Publix plans to hire close to 100 employees. Today, the store held the first of four job fairs to accept applications.

The auditorium at the new government center was busy with applicants looking for employment.

Many say the benefits that Publix offers is what brought them in. "You can start at the bottom and move up and hopefully move a little hire up. It's close to the house they offer good benefits, just the pay everything is really good," said Debra Hanson.

The new Publix is expected to open the first week of August. You can apply for a position Saturday and next Wednesday from 8:00 to 3:00 and next Saturday from 10:00 to 6:00 at the Opal Cannon Auditorium on Starksville Avenue.
