Baker wants Bingo in GA lottery

ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Georgia's Attorney General says if he's elected Governor, he'll bring the greatest change in education in the state since the HOPE scholarship.

Democrat Thurbert Baker stopped in Albany today to talk about his Best Initiative to develop the best education... students... and teachers.

It would add Bingo to the current lottery system. Baker says that would generate more than a billion dollars a year he would use to make sure every child can attend Pre-K... expand the school year from 180 days to 200... make the student teacher ratio the lowest in America... And make teachers the highest paid in the country.

"We've shown a way to pay for it. We have a plan to pay for it. You'll hear a lot of other folks out there and politicians talk about what they do and how they are going to improve education. I'm the only one talking about that coupled with a revenue source to do it."

Baker was one of the authors of the HOPE scholarship program that's paid for through the lottery.
