
From the City of Valdosta-
At approximately 9:00 a.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010, City of Valdosta Utility Department staff discovered wastewater leaking into a stormwater drainage ditch in the vicinity of 613 South Patterson Street.
The leak was caused by a broken wastewater collection pipe. The broken pipe was excavated and repaired; repairs were completed by 3:00 p.m.
Approximately 3,240 gallons of untreated wastewater were discharged into Dukes Bay Canal at South Patterson Street.
The public should avoid contact with the water of Dukes Bay Canal between South Patterson Street and Gil Harbin Industrial Boulevard for the next several days.
