KNOXVILLE, TN (WALB) - Cairo's Teresa Edwards is one of the greatest women's basketball players who have ever been on the court.

The proof can be found by the honors the former University of Georgia star has received since ending her great playing career.

Teresa Edwards added another last night when she was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Edwards part of a class that included UConn legend Rebecca Lobo and former Louisiana Tech star Teresa Weatherspoon.

Edwards and Weatherspoon were teammates on two U.S. Olympic squads with Edwards the only United States basketball player to play in five Olympic games.

It is the sixth hall of fame honor for Edwards who didn't think too much about such things when she was playing.

Teresa Edwards said. "I never imagined myself in a Hall of Fame. That means I was too old to play the game. Yea and no bittersweet at the same time of course you want to be I amongst the best . That was my goal from a little girl to be amongst the best in women's basketball. So, hey I finally made it

Teresa Edward college coach Andy Landers and teammate Katrina McClain are also in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
