VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –A Berrien County inmate who escaped last night is back in jail Friday night.

Deputies picked up 36-year old Leon Shank, Jr. on the Nashville-Enigma Highway two miles outside Nashville around 7:15 this morning.

Shank jumped over a wall topped with razor wire in the yard behind the jail around six Thursday night.

He was initially in jail for aggravated assault on an officer and meth charges.
